IMMIGRATION CATEGORY

Australia encourages skilled migrants whether they have Australian Sponsor Relative, State/Territory Sponsor, Business Sponsor or they apply independently.

To be eligible under these schemes, there are basic criteria to be first met:

  • Under 45 years of age
  • Must meet English Language Test
  • Nominated Occupation must be in the Skilled Occupation Lists (SOL)
  • Must have Recent Work Experience

GENERAL SKILLED MIGRATION( GSM )

To be successful in obtaining a migrant visa, one must meet the point test. The pass mark for subclasses 175 and 885 is currently 120 and pass mark for subclasses 176, 475, 487, and 886 is 100.
The pool mark for subclass 175 is 100 and 80 for subclass 176

GSM includes the following visa subclasses:

  • Skilled–Sponsored (subclass 176)
  • Skilled–Regional Sponsored (subclass 475)
  • Skilled–Recognized Graduate Visa (subclass 476)
  • Skilled–Graduate (subclass 485)

  • Skilled–Independent (Overseas Student) (subclass 885)
  • Skilled–Sponsored (Australian Sponsored Overseas Student (subclass 886)
  • Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 121/856)

BUSINESS SKILLS( Provisional )

Australia is keen to attract successful business people to settle and develop new and existing business in Australia. It includes the following provisional visas:

  • Investor (Subclass 162)
  • State / Territory Sponsored Investor (Subclass 165)
  • State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (Subclass 163)
  • State Territory Sponsored Senior Executive (Subclass 164)

BUSINESS SKILLS( Permanent )

With the exemption of Business Talent visa which is a permanent visa, the following types of visa are mainly for highly successful business people who while holding a temporary business visa have established the required level of business in Australia.

  • Business Talent (Migrant) (Subclass 132)
  • Business Owner (Residence) (Subclass 890)
  • State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (Residence) (subclass 892)
  • Established Business in Australia (Subclass 845)
  • Regional Established Business in Australia (Subclass 846)
  • Investor (Residence) (subclass 891)
  • State/ Territory Sponsored Investor (Residence) (Subclass 893)
